Hop Home

How to play

Hop Home is played with one finger. Here you will find the controls, what you meet along the climb, how the journey through the ten worlds works and answers to the most common questions.

Controls

The alien jumps on its own every time it lands on a platform: you only decide where it goes. Hold the right half of the screen to move right, the left half to move left. On a computer, use the arrow keys.

Go off one side of the screen and you come back in from the other. Fall off the bottom and the run is over.

The first time you start with a short tutorial that explains everything as you play: collect 3 gears and catch the ship. You can skip it.

Along the climb

Platforms

Watch out for flying obstacles too: dodge them. Every world then adds hazards of its own, listed further down.

What to collect

The journey: Worlds

Every world has parts to collect: the counter at the top tells you how many are left. Each part shows up further along the climb; if you miss it, it comes back higher up.

Once you have them all, the ship arrives above you: keep climbing and get into its beam. The ship takes you to the next world, and the home screen shows you the new planet.

If you fall you start the world again, but the parts you collected stay yours. Every world you clear gives you 3 hearts and unlocks new items in Look.

There are ten worlds, each a little harder than the one before. After the last one the journey starts again from the first, harder still.

The ten worlds

When you reach a new world the game introduces its hazards. Here they are in short.

1. Blue Planet

The storm cloud charges up lightning: the platform it hits catches fire, don't touch it. Spring fields are a stretch of trampolines, each with a coin on top.

2. Sunset

Gusts of wind push you sideways: leaves and streaks show which way. In the warm air, the shimmering columns, you go higher.

3. Aurora

Icicles shake for a second under a platform, then drop straight down: move. On ice platforms you slide the way you were going, even if you'd stopped.

4. Ocean

The jellyfish drifts down from above: avoid it. Bubbles take you inside and carry you up. Coral platforms crumble after one jump, and currents gently push you sideways for a while.

5. Space

A red target marks a platform: moments later a meteor crashes into it. Asteroids are platforms slowly drifting by. With low gravity, for a while, you jump higher and fall slower.

6. Volcano

Fireballs come from below: a yellow beam, 3 seconds before, shows you where not to stand. In the fire rain they come one after another, with a shorter beam.

7. Desert

In sandstorms, for a while, you can barely see. In quicksand the platforms sink and you jump lower; the last one is a trampoline that puts you back to normal.

8. Factory

First the rail flashes, then the circular saw runs along it from one side to the other. Conveyor belts push you the way the arrows point, pistons launch you up when the bar is full, and piston walls shoot you the other way if you touch them from the side.

9. Neon City

A drone at the side draws a line above you: soon it turns into a laser. Go through the gap, the rest burns. Neon platforms switch on and off, and when off you fall right through. In a blackout everything goes dark: you only see the lit platforms.

10. The Abyss

It's dark: you only see around yourself and the lanternfish. A glow at the edge announces an electric eel shooting across the screen. Shells close on a timer, and in the trench a whirlpool pulls you toward the middle.

Endless

Every world you have reached has its own Endless: its sky and its hazards, but no parts and no ship. Climb as high as you can: it starts easy and keeps getting harder. Each world has its own best score.

You get there from the star map: tap a world and choose Play Endless.

Daily missions

Every day there are three new missions, like collecting a number of coins or reaching a score. Complete them all for 100 coins and a heart.

Complete them day after day to grow your streak, and the reward goes up by 50 coins a day, up to 250. Miss a day and the streak resets, and the reward goes back to 100.

Shop and Look

With coins you buy items for your alien, in Look: color, head, feet, gadget and trail. Head, feet and gadget can each give a boost: spiked shoes keep you from slipping on ice, the jetpack brings you back up if you fall (once per run), the miner's helmet saves you from the first icicle. Many items unlock as you clear worlds.

You get coins by playing, from diamonds, missions and trophies. In the Android app the shop also has coin and heart packs and rewarded videos.

Hearts

When you lose you can carry on from where you were by paying with hearts: the first time it costs one, then one more each time.

You earn them by clearing worlds and completing the daily missions, and you can buy them with coins in the shop.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?
Yes, the whole journey. Coins are earned by playing; in the Android app you can also buy them, but you don't need to in order to reach the end.
Do I need an account?
No. Signing in with Google saves your progress in the cloud so you can pick it up on another phone or in the browser.
Does progress carry over between the browser and the app?
Yes, if you sign in with the same Google account on both: the world you reached, Endless best scores, trophies, items bought, coins, hearts and streak all carry over. Without an account, in the browser your progress stays in that browser: if you clear its data, you lose it.
Why are there no videos and purchases in the browser?
They only exist in the Android app. Everything else in the browser is the same, and there are no ads.
How do I play on a computer?
With the left and right arrow keys.
